A man faces a felony robbery charge after attempting to withdraw a penny from a Central Florida bank, according to reports.
Michael Fleming reportedly entered a Chase branch in Lady Lake, Fla., on June 29 and handed a withdrawal slip requesting 1 cent to a bank teller, as detailed by “Scruftuff.com”
Concerned about the potential for escalation, the teller contacted law enforcement. Fleming, whose residence is listed in Summerfield, Fla., was subsequently arrested.
Although specific details of the interaction between Fleming and the teller were not disclosed, deputies determined there was probable cause to charge him with robbery. Fleming was booked into jail and is being held on a $5,000 bond, according to online jail records.
