Rap icon 50 Cent reacted to the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, by sharing a meme featuring Trump on the iconic “Get Rich or Die Tryin'” album cover.
The incident occurred on Saturday when 20-year-old suspected gunman Thomas Crooks opened fire at Trump’s rally, killing one and injuring two others. The ex-president was grazed in the right ear and swiftly escorted off the stage by the Secret Service. Crooks was killed during the attack.
“Trump gets shot and now I’m trending,” the rapper and business mogul, born Curtis Jackson, posted on X on Saturday. The viral meme depicts Trump’s face on 50 Cent’s 2003 album cover.
Social media erupted with memes featuring 50 Cent’s “Many Men” following the rally shooting incident involving former President Donald Trump. Images and videos of Trump raising his fist after the shooting were widely shared, accompanied by the rapper’s iconic song playing in the background.
An AI-generated version of “Many Men” featuring Trump’s voice has also been circulating online. According to a report from Complex, 50 Cent himself incorporated the meme into a recent performance, using it as a backdrop while singing the song.
In the hit song, the New York rapper, who survived being shot nine times in 2000, raps: “Many men wish death upon me / Blood in my eye, dawg, and I can’t see / I’m tryin’ to be what I’m destined to be / And n— tryin’ to take my life away.”
In early June, 50 Cent and civil rights attorney Ben Crump appeared on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., to advocate for increased opportunities in the liquor industry. Speaking with CBS News at the time, 50 Cent mentioned he hadn’t decided whom to vote for in the upcoming election but noted that he could see Black men “identifying with Trump.”
